The music of Y-Not is designed to validate authentic human experiences through empowering lyrics and diverse soundscapes. Based in Grand Rapids, MI, the 6-piece band interweaves elements of alternative rock, jam, funk, and ambient soul with its central theme - a heartfelt and daring quest for interpersonal truth and change. Influences from Dave Matthews Band, Lauryn Hill, Trevor Hall, The Grateful Dead, John Mayer, and Ripe are constantly evolving in their impact on Y-Not’s music and its expression.

Their dynamic rhythm section coupled with a powerful foundation of acoustic guitar & vocals build up Y-Not’s sound to soaring heights achieved with the soloing virtuosity of the band’s saxophonist, violist, and electric guitarist. This is most notable in their first full length album, "Rearranging the Psychic Furniture". Released in March 2023, this series of recordings showcase the band’s intentional lyrics and eclectic musicianship.

Live shows exemplify the reciprocal positive catharsis between members of the band and the audience collectively. Y-Not invites listeners on a musical journey: An experience of inspiringly memorable moments spent dancing, laughing, and finding peace in community with others~
